FOIA Request to City Of Rolling Meadows Finance Department Regarding Detailed Sales Tax Information on October 25, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at North Cook News have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City Of Rolling Meadows Finance Department. The request, sent on October 25, 2024, seeks detailed information about sales tax collected from retailers since the beginning of the year.

Specifically, we have asked for data showing sales tax collected from retailers by month versus projected figures. We are also seeking information about the number of active retail locations paying sales tax each month. Furthermore, we have requested the names of each retailer and their gross retail sales reported monthly.

We believe that access to this public record is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As a media organization dedicated to disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver for this FOIA request.

We await a response from the City Of Rolling Meadows Finance Department and will keep our readers updated with any developments.
