FOIA Request to City Of Park Ridge Finance Department Regarding Sales Tax Records on October 25, 2024.

As a part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at North Cook News have requested specific records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request was made in electronic format and pertains to sales tax collected from retailers from January 1, 2024 till the present date.

The specific fields we have asked for include the amount of sales tax collected from retailers each month compared to projected figures, the number of active retail locations paying sales tax by month, and the names of each retailer along with their gross retail sales reported for each month.

Our role as a media organization involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We will continue our efforts in bringing light to such matters that concern public interest and contribute towards an informed citizenry. We await response from the City Of Park Ridge Finance Department regarding this request.
