Illinois State Senate District 10 candidate Jon Luers stated, "Impartial justice is gone in America unless YOU take your responsibility seriously to VOTE." He shared this thought in a June 6 Facebook post regarding Steve Bannon being ordered to jail.

"President Trump's advisor and vocal proponent Steve Bannon has now been ordered to prison for the last four months before the election -- for obeying President Trump's claim of Executive Privilege and ignoring the subpoena of the improperly constituted, one-sided J6 Committee," said Luers, according to Facebook. "Impartial justice is gone in America, unless YOU take your responsibility seriously to VOTE this fall for Founding principles like Freedom of Speech, equal justice, and sovereignty of the People over tyranny."

Luers shared a link to an article from The Post Millennial, which focused on conservative reactions to Steve Bannon being ordered to jail on July 1. According to the article, Bannon was found guilty of two counts of contempt of Congress for ignoring subpoenas from the committee investigating the events of January 6, 2020. Bannon had been sentenced in 2022, but the sentence was paused for an appeal. The article also included various statements from conservative figures such as Rep. Matt Gaetz and Charlie Kirk.

The Associated Press reported on the order for Bannon to serve his four-month sentence for defying the January 6 committee’s subpoenas and said that Bannon "is expected to seek a stay of the judge’s order." The order came from a Justice Department request for Bannon to serve his sentence. The federal appeals court that heard Bannon’s appeal upheld his contempt of Congress conviction in May.

Luers, a seasoned software engineer with 40 years of experience, is running for the Illinois Senate's 10th District. Dissatisfied with Democratic leadership in Illinois and the country, he believes more people are recognizing their lack of genuine concern for well-being and are ready for substantial change. Luers criticizes his opponent, State Sen. Robert Martwick, as a Mike Madigan clone profiting from a property tax appeals business while taxes rise. A key concern for Luers is the state of public schools in Illinois, which he deems "ridiculously expensive and ineffective," attributing these challenges to teachers' unions and highlighting the negative impact of COVID-19 lockdowns on education, according to his website.

The 10th District covers Chicago’s northwest side and the North Cook County communities of Norridge, Schiller Park, Rosemont, Park Ridge, and Niles. It is currently represented by Martwick. He is an attorney and former criminal prosecutor, according to his website.
