Stevenson High School shared a safety plan in the case that students participated in a potential walk out demonstration on May 2 in support of Palestine.
The plan, shared by Principal Troy Gobble and Assistant Principal for Operations Eric Ramos, acknowledged that students may be planning to walk out of school during one of their lunch periods. The school planned to send any students who did leave their classes or the school to a predetermined location on campus to keep security efforts concentrated in a single area.
The school asked all friends and family members to stay away from campus during this time.
“Hate speech of any kind is simply not tolerated on campus and will be dealt with immediately,” the note from administration said.
“We recognize that this may be an extremely difficult and emotional time for many members of our community,” the note continued. “Our top priority always is the safety and security of our students. If you student would like any support navigating or processing their emotions as a result of tomorrow’s potential walkout, please reach out to a member of your students’ SST.”
The planned walkout is an organized effort across several area schools within the Lake County area, and has been called the “In Solidarity with Palestine” walkout.
