An Unseen Unheard Minority: The TEAACH Act and Why Asian American History is Important,
Even in diversity and equity realms, scholars and education leaders overlook Asian Americans.
The CTLE and the NCE TEAACH group is hosting Dr. Sharon S. Lee, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to speak about the Teaching Equitable Asian American Community History Act (TEAACH). TEAACH requires all Illinois k-12 schools to teach about Asian-American history and is an essential step forward in ensuring Asian-American representation in DEI work. Come join us for this session and learn about the unique challenges Asian American and Asian students are facing at all levels of education. This presentation will center on students’ experiences and voices. K-12 teachers are encouraged to attend.
