Jim Pye, vice president of the Board of Schaumburg Schools, has reported that a recent fundraiser is showing very successful results.

"I think a lot of people in this room got to go to the golf outing on Monday and it was awesome," he said in a June 9 Board of Education meeting.

In early June, the Schaumburg school district held a golf outing to raise money for the D54 Education Foundation. Approximately 144 golfers turned out to support the fundraiser, along with over 50 volunteers. Approximately 400 scholarships were funded through the event.

In addition to working the outing, school principals helped with the raffle tickets that were sold to benefit the split-the-pot raffle prize. This year's prize winner, a local family, donated all the prize winnings—over $1,000— right back to the organization.

School District 54 is supported and taken care of by the D54 Education Foundation, a nonprofit run entirely by volunteers. Over $1 million has been granted to the district by the foundation since its creation in 1987 for various scholarships, projects and initiatives.
