GOP gubernatorial candidate Jesse Sullivan is questioning the scandalous curriculum at Evanston-Skokie School District 65 introducing sexual themes in what critics have called a "radical gender curriculum"
“With what the radical left is doing inside our classrooms, it’s no wonder they’re trying to keep the parents out!” Sullivan, a 37-year-old tech entrepreneur, said in a press release. “Illinois families have a right to be outraged at this inappropriate indoctrination of our kids with a liberal agenda — and our tax dollars are paying for it.”
Sullivan pledged to give parents the voice they need when it comes to their children's education.
“I am the father of five young children myself," Sullivan said. "I can promise you that as governor, I’m the only one who will ensure that parents have a say, a seat at the table, and a choice in their kids’ education.”
The school system's curriculum has been dubbed "radical" since it encourages teaching young children about transgenderism and LGBT lifestyles, including lessons in which they are asked to define their sexuality. Sexual education and gender indignity are taught to 4-year-olds in that curriculum, whereas transgender identity is taught to 5-year-olds. First graders are provided instruction on pronouns, including "she," "tree," "they," "he," "her," "him," "them," "ze," and "zir." Older students are told white Europeans imposed a "Western and Christian ideological framework" on minorities.
Despite the controversial focus on such topics in schools, polling has found the LGBT community overwhelming uses pronouns assigned at birth, according to The Trevor Project.
Chris Rufo of Manhattan Institute wrote on the "radical gender curriculum" in City Journal that students at Evanston-Skokie School District are taught to "break the binary" of gender.
"Queer theory has made its way into public school curriculums for children as young as four." he wrote. "This development should be subject to robust political debate, not denial and dismissal from the political Left."

Sullivan is part of a crowded GOP field for governor that includes State Sen. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia), Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin, McHenry County businessman Gary Rabine, former state Sen. Paul Schimpf, Max Solomon and Emily Johnson. The primary will be held June 28.
