The Judson University Women's Basketball Team concluded its season on a high note as the Eagles defeated Cardinal Stritch 44-42 on Saturday, thanks to a Ta'Mia Banks bucket at the buzzer. The Eagles conclude the 2021-2022 season with a three-game win streak.
In a game that went back-and-forth, each team held the lead for significant periods of time. The Eagles trailed by as many as seven points in the opening quarter and also led by as many as 11 points in the third quarter. Stritch tied the game with four seconds remaining, leading to Judson calling a full timeout to advance the ball to halfcourt. In the ensuing seconds, Banks converted on a layup to give Judson its eighth win of the season.
Banks led all scorers with 22 points (8-9 from the field, 2-5 from downtown, 4-6 FT) and added 12 rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Sydnie Wolf scored 10 points (4-15 shooting, 2-6 from three) and also had six rebounds and three assists. Sydney Novak made five of six free throws leading to seven points, eight rebounds, and an assist. Mercedes Rhodes hit a three-point field goal en route to five points, four rebounds, and an assist. Jocelyn Mitchell had seven rebounds and a steal for Judson, while Addie Ringel had six boards with three blocks. Haven Beyer had a pair of rebounds for Judson in the win.
The Eagles (8-20, 7-15) certainly have a lot to be optimistic about heading into the 2022-2023 season.
