CALL TO ORDER:

President Roth called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.

Trustee Baumer moved for a short recess to allow for photos and refreshments. Trustee Harper seconded the motion. A voice vote approved the Recess. The Village Board recessed their meeting at 7:37 p.m.

The Village Board reconvened their meeting at 7:56 p.m.

VILLAGE MANAGER’S REPORT:

Village Manager Sharon Caddigan stated the uncertified 2020 Census has Streamwood’s population at 39,577, which is slightly lower than the 2010 Census.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA:

Request the Board approve the August 19, 2021 Agenda as presented. Trustee Schmidt moved for approval. Trustee Haque seconded the motion. A voice vote approved the Agenda as presented.

APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES:

Request the Board approve the Minutes of the Regular Board Meeting of August 5, 2021 as presented. Trustee Baumer moved for approval. Trustee Haque seconded the motion. A voice vote approved the Minutes as presented.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT – Trustee Thon/Trustee Baumer

A-21-073 Ordinance – Approval of Special Use for Sale of Packaged Alcoholic Beverages / 1062 E. Schaumburg Road / 7-Eleven

Request the Board approve an Ordinance entitled “AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A SPECIAL USE PERMIT TO ALLOW FOR THE SALE OF PACKAGED ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES FOR OFF-PREMISE CONSUMPTION IN A C-2 COMMERCIAL DISTRICT 1062 E. SCHAUMBURG ROAD.” This Ordinance approves a Special Use Permit to allow the sale of packaged alcoholic beverages in a retail store in a C-2 Commercial Shopping District at 1062 E. Schaumburg Road.

Trustee Thon presented the Ordinance for second reading and moved for approval. Trustee Schmidt seconded the motion. ROLL CALL:

ORDINANCE 2021-14

A-21-074 Ordinance – Approval of Zoning Variance / 14 Bayberry Court

Request the Board approve an Ordinance entitled “AN ORDINANCE GRANTING VARIATION IN AN R-3 PUD SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL DISTRICT TO PERMIT A THREE-SEASON ROOM ADDITION TO BE CONSTRUCTED ON THE REAR OF THE EXISTING STRUCTURE TO ENCROACH EIGHT FEET INTO A REQUIRED REAR YARD SETBACK PURSUANT TO TITLE 11, SECTION 11-5.4-6(C)(6) OF THE VILLAGE CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF STREAMWOOD, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS.” This Ordinance grants a variation to permit a rear yard three-season room addition to encroach eight (8) feet into a required rear yard setback at 14 Bayberry Court.

I-21-001 Information Item – Blood Drive

The Streamwood Blood Commission and Vitalant will host a blood drive Wednesday, August 25 from 1:00 – 7:00 pm at the Police Station (401 E. Irving Park Road). Registrations are encouraged.

I-21-002 Information Item – 9/11 Event – 20th Anniversary

The Veterans Memorial Commission, with the Streamwood Police and Fire Departments, has a remembrance planned for the 20th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. The ceremony will take place at our Streamwood Veterans Memorial on Saturday, September 11 at 7:00 pm. We invite everyone to join us.

Please note that our Fire Department will also continue their tradition of remembering that day with a flag ceremony at 8:58 am at each fire station.

A-21-078 Motion – Approval of Semi-Monthly Expenditures

Request the Board approve the semi-monthly expenditures in the amount of $1,456,222.90 which represents the total of the schedule of bills dated August 19, 2021.

Capital Replacement Fund 39,708.93

Street Improvement Fund 118,759.70

I-21-003 Information Item – Labor Day IDOT Campaign

The Streamwood Police Department is stepping up enforcement during its annual Labor Day Campaign from August 20 through September 7 to remind motorists to “Click It or Ticket.” Whether you are traveling down the block or across the country, make sure you buckle up every time.

I-21-004 Information Item – Coffee for Champions

The Streamwood Police Department will be holding a fundraising event for the Special Olympics on Friday, August 20 from 5:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Dunkin Donuts on Route 59. In the past, the event has been called “Cop on the Rooftop” but is now being called “Coffee for Champions” to recognize not only our officers but the Special Olympians who are in attendance.

Our officers will still take to the roof to raise awareness and donations for the Special Olympics of Illinois. We encourage everyone to drive by and consider donating to support these amazing athletes.
