Patent office approves 3 patents for Evanston innovators in week ending June 27

There were three patents granted in Evanston in the week ending June 27, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is two more than the week before. Patents included a molecular targets for als and related disorders.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending June 27 belonged to Two Blades Foundation who filed in October 30, 2013.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
