Judson University issued the following announcement on July 22
The Judson University Athletic Department has been distinguished as a Silver Five-Star Champion of Character Institution for the 2020-2021 year. This recognition has become a yearly occurrence for the department over the last decade.
The vision of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Champions of Character program is to change the culture of sport. Its mission is to provide training to instill the values that build character so students, coaches, and parents know, do, and value the right thing on and off the field.
The Champions of Character program helps participants find the balance by keeping five core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership – at the heart of the athletics experience.
"This was a difficult year to be building community and finding service opportunities amid the pandemic. I commend our entire coaching staff and their efforts throughout the entire year," said Associate Athletic Director Chris Moment. " We greatly appreciate [Head Women's Soccer Coach and Champions of Character Coordinator] Diego Cevallos' coordination efforts and ensuring we continue to strive to be an athletic department that exhibits all the characteristics of a Champion of Character."
The Eagles will continue to strive to compete with character this upcoming fall with the first athletic events occuring in late August.
