State Rep. Tom Morrison (R-Palatine) recently spent time promoting Kids' Week at Lincoln Park Zoo by conducting a virtual tour.
In a video posted to YouTube, Morrison met with staffers, showed off some of the animals and encouraged kids to come to the 152-year old facility that is open 365 days a year at no charge.
“As the fourth oldest zoo in North America," Morrison said, “it’s home to more than 1,000 animals, including big cats, polar bears, penguins, gorillas, reptiles and monkeys.”
With much of the city now reopened following the COVID-19 crisis, there’s been in a push across the area by the Lincoln Park Chamber of Commerce (LPCC) to return the area to its once-vibrant nature.
“As Chicago further reopens, we’re excited for neighbors to rediscover all of Lincoln Park’s incredible restaurants, shopping and cultural destinations,” LPCC President and CEO Kim Schilf said in a press release. “We’d also like to invite visitors from all over the city and country to make Lincoln Park part of their summer bucket list. From gorgeous lake views to some of the city’s most walkable business districts, Lincoln Park is open for business and is thrilled to welcome you back into the neighborhood.”
Among summer events planned are Lincoln Park Sundaes, a monthly celebration that features free ice cream, entertainment, games and photo opportunities. Also on tap are retail promotions, summer brunches and cocktail specials along the street.
Listed below is the schedule for Lincoln Park Summer Sundaes:
- Lincoln Avenue - Sunday, July 11
