Northfield trustee Dan Barrett was one of two Republican Party incumbents to fall short in reelection bid efforts April 6.
“With what appears to be all the votes counted, it would seem that I was not re-elected as Northfield Township trustee,” Barrett posted on Facebook soon after Election Day. “On behalf of my fellow slate mates, I wish the new trustees and supervisor good luck in their new positions. Their success will be our success, so we wish them well.”
According to the Chicago Tribune, Barrett finished with 10.75% of the vote while fellow Republican incumbent and Northfield Township Leadership slate member Melanie Peterson finished with 10.81%, well behind Democrats Scott Ottenheimer, Vincent Pace, Daniel Schack and Kate Spears, who all averaged over 14% of the vote.
The Northfield Township Leadership slate also included Jeffrey Cernek and Robert Kame sky, who received approximately 10% of the vote.
During his campaign, Barrett scored the endorsements of several local groups, including the Glenview Professional Firefighters Association.
“Trustee Dan Barrett, running with our Northfield Township Leadership Slate, has been endorsed by the Glenview Professional Firefighters Association IAFF Local 4186. Dan is a thoughtful leader who continues to selflessly serve our community,” the Northfield Township Republican Organization said in a March Facebook post.
Barrett was first elected to the Northfield Township Board in 2019. He has also served as a trustee on the Glenbrook Fire Protection District.
