Rep. Deanne Mazzochi (R-Westmont) urged voters who don't support a teacher certification rule proposal to call the Illinois State Board of Education to express their dissatisfaction.
"Recently, the Pritzker administration proposed rules for teacher certification that generated considerable controversy, including that they were designed to advocate for a particular progressive worldview and to encourage classroom political advocacy, instead of objective metrics based on teacher skills and knowledge bases," Mazzochi posted on Facebook in February.
Mazzochi made her post after a scheduled JCAR meeting was abruptly postponed. The bipartisan legislative oversight committee is responsible for considering such rules.
Mazzochi hasn't been shy about pointing an accusatory finger at Pritzker over his handling of the entire situation.
"The governor chose to not do this through legislation, but through arcane administrative rule-making processes that are not transparent to the general public," she said.
