Lake Park Community High School District 108 recently issued the following announcement.
During a monthly meeting hosted on February 22, the Lake Park High School District 108 Board of Education unanimously voted to approve Jovan Lazarevic as Lake Park’s next Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, effective July 1. He will replace James Roberts, who is retiring after 14 years at Lake Park serving as an Assistant Principal of Instruction, the East Campus Principal, and most recently in the district office the past five school years.
“Mr. Lazarevic demonstrates a natural ability as a forward thinker and someone dedicated to building strong relationships, both qualities that will be instrumental as the District pursues strategic planning. The Board of Education is impressed by his depth of experience, strength as a leader, and his gift of communication,” stated School Board President Barbara Layer.
Lazarevic is currently the Associate Superintendent and Principal at Fenton High School District #100 where he has served for the last four years, during which time Fenton was named AP District of the Year by the College Board. Prior to Fenton, Jovan served for 10 years in Township High School District #214 as an Assistant Principal and Division Head for Math and Science. Earlier in his career he served in the roles of teacher, coach, and Dean at the high school level.
In addition to four years of military service, Lazarevic holds an M.ED in Educational Leadership from National-Louis University and a B.S. in Biology from Elmhurst College. He has earned a Superintendent endorsement through Concordia University and is currently completing a Chief School Business Official endorsement through the University of Illinois.
According to Superintendent Dr. Jeff Feucht, "Throughout the several rounds of interviews that culminated with committees including administrators, Curriculum Leaders, Danielson Leaders, classroom teachers, and Board Members, Mr. Lazarevic demonstrated a student-centered approach to learning, a collaborative style of working with colleagues, and his personal commitment to life-long learning. After speaking extensively with references, I am confident that he will be a great addition to our district office team as well as a supportive partner with our administrators and teacher leaders at our two campuses in the years to come."
Lazarevic commented, “I am extremely humbled and honored to be appointed the next Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction at Lake Park High School District #108. As a visiting educator to Lake Park, I have been continually impressed with the collaborative mindset of the staff and their student-centered approach to problem solving. I'm excited to join this school community and look forward to starting my ‘Lancer for Life’ journey.”
He and his wife, a special education teacher for more than two decades, are proud of their four children including a son in the military, and three daughters who will be in college, high school, and eighth grade next school year. The family resides in Schaumburg.
