CITY OF EVANSTON: Mayor's 2021 Summer Youth Employment Program Job Fair

City of Evanston issued the following announcement on Feb 23.

Evanston youth age 14 to 18 years are encouraged to find their perfect summer job at the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP) Job Fair on Saturday, March 20, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Fleetwood Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St. Doors will close at noon.

More than 30 employers providing summer and year-round employment will be present including Northwestern University, McGaw YMCA, Jewel-Osco, YoFresh Yogurt Cafe, Ridgeville Park District and more. New this year, there will also be paid virtual learning opportunities. 

In order to be eligible to attend the job fair, youth must:

  • Be enrolled in school
  • Be at least 14 years of age when the program begins in June 2021
  • Live in ZIP codes 60201 or 60202
Attendees are highly encouraged to fill out a Summer Youth Employment Program application, which will expedite the process at the job fair. Applications are available at cityofevanston.org/youthemployment through Sunday, March 7.

The City of Evanston will adhere to all COVID-19 precautions recommended by local, state, and federal entities. All Job Fair attendees must wear masks and practice social distancing during the event. 

Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Job Fair was canceled; however, with the help of community organizations and local businesses, as well as partnerships with ETHS and the Youth Job Center, more than 350 youth received summer and year-round employment.
