ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 55: Moylan Cautions Residents as New Wave of COVID-19 Cases Looms

55

Illinois State House District 55 issued the following announcement on Oct. 23

State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is strongly urging residents to continue adhering to recommended safety guidelines given the rising positivity rates of COVID-19 across the state.

“The recent surge in COVID-19 positivity is very concerning for both the personal health of residents and whether or not businesses will be able to handle more mitigation protocols,” Moylan said. “This virus is extremely serious, and we have to stay vigilant. We cannot afford for residents to be overly casual about social distancing, wearing masks and other safety measures.”

In response to the rising positivity rates, four of the eleven state regions of Illinois and the city of Chicago have reinstated some COVID-19 resurgence mitigation rules. As of Oct. 22, the most recent statewide seven-day positivity rate was at 5.7%. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) monitors key factors to determine if a resurgence is occurring. If IDPH determines an increase in COVID-19 burden and a decrease in hospital capacity, or if a region’s seven-day positivity rate is at 8% or above for three consecutive days, mitigation protocols will be installed.

Moylan’s constituent office offers a complimentary face mask delivery service to 55th district residents. Residents need only call 847-635-6821or email StateRepMoylan@gmail.com to provide their address and the amount of face masks they require for delivery.

“We all want to avoid any business shutdowns and stay home protocols, but in order for that to happen we have to control the spread of the virus,” Moylan said. “We all have to do our part. We need to wear masks when in public, social distance, avoid any unnecessary gatherings with crowds and listen to the public health officials. COVID-19 has taken thousands of lives in Illinois and brought economic hardship on many more. We need to do everything we can in order to avoid further loss of life and business interruption.”
