CITY OF EVANSTON: City Announces 4th of July Holiday Service Schedules

City of Evanston issued the following announcement on June 29.

The City of Evanston announces service and facility schedules for the Independence Day holiday, Saturday, July 4, 2020, observed this year on Friday, July 3.

Refuse Collection

All residential trash, yard waste and recycling collections will occur as normal. Friday condo trash and recycling collections will occur on Friday, July 3.

Facilities

All City community centers, recreation facilities, and Evanston Public Library locations will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. The Robert Crown Community Center will open for limited services on Sunday, July 5. 

311 Center

Evanston’s 311 Center will be open for regular hours, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Friday, July 3 and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 4. 

Beaches

Evanston beaches, including Lighthouse, Clark Street, Lee Street and South Boulevard, will be open for swimming on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. 

Parking

Parking meters/pay boxes and downtown parking garages will be free on July 4. In addition, other restricted areas that have signs that prohibit parking except on holidays will be honored. Regular parking enforcement will be in place on Friday, July 3; however, street cleaning operations and parking restrictions will not occur.

Virtual Independence Day Celebration

The Evanston Fourth of July Association has replaced its traditional 4th of July activities with an alternative virtual celebration, due to COVID-19. View a complete listing of Independence Day festivities.
