Village of Wheeling Liquor Control Commission met Jan. 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

1. Call to Order

2. Pledge of Allegiance led by Chairman Horcher

3. Roll Call

Present: Pat Horcher, Ray Lang, Mary Papantos, Jim Ruffatto, Joe Vito, Dave Vogel 

Absent: Mary Krueger

Commissioner Krueger was absent with prior notice.

4. Approval of Minutes

Approval of Minutes for the Special Meeting of December 16, 2019

Motion by Mary Papantos, second by Jim Ruffatto to approve Minutes as presented.

Final Resolution: Motion Approved Yes: Pat Horcher, Ray Lang, Mary Papantos, Jim Ruffatto, Joe Vito, Dave Vogel 

Absent: Mary Krueger

5. Citizen Concerns and Comments - None

6. New Business

A. Request for a Class J-1 Liquor License from 312 Nails & Spa Inc. d/b/a 312 Nails Spa (405 W. Dundee Road in the Wheeling Town Center)

Clerk Simpson read the item into the record.

Village Manager Sfondilis introduced the item and read conditions for approval. Petitioner was present and answered questions from the Board.

Motion to approve conditionally on 1) passage of an ordinance by the Board of Trustees authorizing the creation of a new Class J-1 liquor license; 2) submittal of a certificate of insurance indicating appropriate liability insurance coverage for the establishment; 3) payment of all applicable fees; and 4) submittal of BASSET training certificates for all applicable employees.

Motion by Jim Ruffatto, second by Mary Papantos.

Final Resolution: Motion Approved Yes: Pat Horcher, Ray Lang, Mary Papantos, Jim Ruffatto, Joe Vito, Dave Vogel 

Absent: Mary Krueger

B. Consideration of a Request for a Class B-1 Liquor License from Won Corp. d/b/a Wajo Sushi, the New Owner of the Existing Restaurant at 73 South Milwaukee Avenue

Clerk Simpson read the item into the record.

Village Manager Sfondilis introduced the item and read the conditions for approval. Petitioner was present and answered questions from the Board.

Motion to approve conditionally on 1) passage of an ordinance by the Board of Trustees authorizing the creation of a new Class B-1 liquor license; 2) submission of a certificate of insurance indicating liquor liability insurance for the establishment that names the Village of Wheeling as an additional insured party; 3) submission of BASSET certificates for all applicable individuals, and 4) satisfactory background check results.

Motion by Mary Papantos, second by Ray Lang.

Final Resolution: Motion Approved Yes: Pat Horcher, Ray Lang, Mary Papantos, Jim Ruffatto, Joe Vito, Dave Vogel 

Absent: Mary Krueger

7. Adjournment

Chairperson Horcher asked for a Motion to adjourn.

Motion by Dave Vogel, second by Jim Ruffatto. Final Resolution: Motion Approved by voice vote, all Ayes, the meeting adjourned at 6:37 p.m.
