EVANSTON-SKOKIE COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 65: Board Vacancy Information

Evanston-Skokie Community Consolidated School District 65 recently issued the following announcement.

Lindsay Cohen, Board Member, submitted her resignation, effective July 18, 2019, citing a family move outside of District 65 boundaries.

To fill the vacancy, the Board of Education is seeking applicants from across the District 65 community. In order to be eligible to serve, a school board member must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age, a registered voter, and resident of the State of Illinois and Evanston/Skokie School District 65 for at least one year.

 Members of the board are required to attend meetings, typically held twice per month on Mondays beginning at 6pm. Click here to view the 2019-2020 Board meeting schedule.

 In addition, during the 2019-2020 school year, the school board will be involved in a superintendent search, an intensive time commitment that will require full board participation. Candidates must be available on dates that have currently been scheduled for interviews and special meetings related to the search. 

The applicant selected will be announced no later than September 1, 2019.

The term of the appointed board member will run until the April 2021 election.

To apply for the vacancy, interested residents must submit a current resume and complete an application. Applications can be submitted online or paper copies are available at the JEH Education Center (1500 McDaniel Avenue, Evanston).

 Interviews will be held during the week of August 6-10, 2019.

Applications may be submitted online or via email to qureshia@district65.net, by mail (postmarked by August 2), or in person to the attention of Adeela Qureshi at 1500 McDaniel Avenue, Evanston IL 60201. Completed applications must be submitted no later than Friday, August 2, 2019 at 3pm to be considered.
