Northbrook Park District issued the following announcement on Jan. 11.
Once again, Northbrook Park District’s Teams Elite skaters have come out on top, taking home first place titles in their recent competitions.
Teams Elite Junior, Juvenile, Intermediate and Novice teams took first place at the 2019 Colonial Classic Synchronized Skating Competition Jan. 4-6 at Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell.
The Teams Elite Pre-Juvenile division, which includes skaters under 12, earned second place at the Foot of the Lake Synchronized Skating Classic Jan. 5 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Teams Elite Synchro Skills took home third place in the competition.
These achievements come just a month after the announcement that Teams Elite Junior will represent Team USA at the Spring Cup in Milan, Italy February 15-19.
“Synchronized skating is an ever-evolving sport,” said Head Coach Danielle Ostrower, who describes Teams Elite as, ‘The Rockettes on ice, but with a lot more speed.’ “We’re always working to take our skills to the next level.”
Skaters are judged in a variety of areas, including technical and artistic ability and the ability to perform under pressure.
