Evanston senior wrestler Ramin Abraham kept his unbeaten season intact at the Ed Ewoldt Invitatonal held at Wheaton Warrenville South High on Dec. 29, all while leading the Wilkkits to an overall second-place showing.
On his way to being named the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler, Abraham walked away with the title in the 220 pound class, winning two of three matches by pin to improve to 24-0 overall. In the title match, he easily outpointed Maine West’s Jacob Belizzi 10-4.
According to the school’s website, Abraham was joined in the winner’s circle by teammate Collin Olla-Chatman, who pinned Homewood Flossmoor’s Michael Ford in less than two-minutes in their 285 pound tilt bout.
Olla-Chatman’s win improved his season record to 7-1.
Four Evanston also finished second in the tournament, among them Dylan Kull at 132, Ricardo Salinas at 160, Rafael Salinas at 170 and Walker Witt at 182.
