East Maine School District 63 recently issued the following announcement.
Winter is coming -- and that means there may be times when District 63 schools close due to weather-related conditions or other emergency situations.
Deciding whether or not to close school
When weather might result in a closure, District 63 works with other area districts to make a final decision. Student and staff safety is always our first priority, and superintendents also consider other factors in choosing whether or not to keep school open.
Notifying families
If area districts -- including District 63 -- do decide to close school, the information is disseminated through multiple channels, including:
- The District's Blackboard automatic call/email system.
- This website.
- Our Facebook and Twitter social media pages.
- WGN's Emergency Closings website.
Visit our Emergency School Closing Information webpage. And, to help families learn more about winter weather closings, the five Districts that confer on closing decisions have prepared this Emergency Closing Information Sheet. We hope it's helpful!
