State Sen. Tom Rooney (R-Rolling Meadows) congratulated five residents of his district who were named as recipients of the Bicentennial Honor 200.
They are William R. Beiersdorf of Arlington Heights, John Henry "Dutch" DeGroot of Mount Prospect, Major General Davis Harris of Arlington Heights, Michael Edward Lake of Des Plaines and Greg Padovani of Arlington Heights.
Honor 200, a partnership between Illinois Bicentennial and the Department of Veteran's Affairs, honors 200 veterans across the state of Illinois at an event in December. Honorees must have an honorable discharge from the U.S. military and live in Illinois. A committee of judges considers military service and achievements, ad the scope and impact of the nominee’s achievements and efforts, when selecting honorees.
"Our servicemen and women go above and beyond, sacrificing so much on behalf of their country," Rooney said in a statement on his website. "Thank you to all recipients of the Honor 200 recognition for your service to our nation and continued dedication to our communities."
The recipients will be honored at the state's 200th birthday celebration Dec. 3 in the Aon Grand Ballroom at Navy Pier in Chicago.
