Katy Dolan Baumer is imploring voters to think of themselves when they cast their votes Tuesday.
“When voters go to the polls, I trust they will think hard on the value of their homes, on who will eventually end up having more equity in them – they or the state,” Baumer told North Cook News. “I remind voters that more taxes levied upon them are not the way to fix Illinois. They should remember that they are not receiving more services for those increased taxes.”
Running against Rep. Fred Crespo (D-Hoffman Estates) in the 44th District, Baumer said the state finding a way to get its finances back on track could be a real starting point to getting things headed in the right direction.

“I will not take a pension,” she added. “That is a remarkable difference between my opponent and me.”
Baumer said she’s hoping more voters will find the time to make their voices heard in the form of casting a vote on Nov. 6.
“We in Illinois are at a precipice. If enough conservatives are not elected the mess will continue,” she said. “At that point, we all lose, even the Democrats and those who decided not to vote. I encourage voters to make their voices heard at the ballot box.”
Baumer said she’s proud of the way she’s run her campaign and hopes that voters will view that as an indicator of how she’ll spend her time, concentrating on the things that matter most to them.
“I have not resorted to using hate literature and spreading bad things about my opponent,” she said. “Instead, I have promoted positive ideas and listened to the residents to hear what their needs are. I feel the residents deserve this, and they are tired of the nastiness out there today. I have stood on my record of service and action and desire for continued service.”
The 44th District includes Cook County, Streamwood; and parts of Hoffman Estates, Hanover Park, Schaumburg, Elgin and Bartlett.
