Glenview State House candidate Jennifer Gong-Gershowicz received another $30,000 from Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chief Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) between Aug. 15 and Sept. 6, state filings show.
The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Friends of Jennifer Gong-Gershowicz, the campaign committee that supports Gong-Gershowicz’s race against Republican Peter Lee in the 17th district.
The district covers all or part of Northbrook, Glenview, Golf, Wilmette, Evanston, Morton Grove and Skokie.
Madigan’s contributions to Gong-Gershowicz came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $30,750 to the candidate’s campaign.
From Aug. 15 to Sept. 6, Madigan spent $2.67 million backing campaigns for 31 candidates. He's spent more than $100,000 on 12 candidates and more than $40,000 on 18.
