Evanston-Skokie Community Consolidated School District 65 students suspended 203 times in a single school year

Evanston-Skokie Community Consolidated School District 65 reported 203 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 203 students during the year. That equates to 2.6 percent of the 7,959 students enrolled.

Of the 44 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 41 incidents. There were three incidents of tobacco. For 43 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 159 out-of-school suspensions, 131 were given to boys and 28 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 153 incidents. There were five incidents of tobacco. For 70 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
