Elk Grove Community Consolidated School District 59 reported 114 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 114 students during the year. That equates to 1.7 percent of the 6,866 students enrolled.

Of the 76 in-school suspensions, 63 were given to boys and 13 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 39 incidents. There were 29 incidents of violence that caused physical injury. For 64 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 38 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 18 incidents. There were seven incidents of violence without physical injury. For 21 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
