Park Ridge-Niles Community Consolidated School District 64 students suspended 104 times in a single school year

Park Ridge-Niles Community Consolidated School District 64 reported 104 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 104 students during the year. That equates to 2.3 percent of the 4,621 students enrolled.

Of the 79 in-school suspensions, 65 were given to boys and 14 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 59 incidents. There were nine incidents of violence without physical injury. For 72 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 25 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 10 incidents. There were five incidents of violence without physical injury. For 10 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
