Evanston-Skokie Community Consolidated School District 65 recently issued the following announcement.
Dear District 65 Families,
Again this year, we are excited to include families in our SEED (Seeking Educational Equity & Diversity) seminars. The dates and times of these seminars as well as a full description of the course are available here.
SEED is a monthly three-hour seminar with the purpose of creating a circle of adults who will come together to learn, listen, think, debate, and build a stronger more equitable community. This seminar is unique in that everyone is welcome regardless of their role. We ask that you leave your “title” at the door as we journey together to deepen our understanding of ourselves, expand our knowledge of the world, and become agents of change in making our educational community more equitable for all students and families.
As District 65 continues its work to promote equity and the lens in which we change policies, practices and procedures, we hope that you will take the time to join in this journey with us. Our experience working with SEEDlings in our district has been rewarding and fulfilling, helping to build personal and professional relationships with educators across the district to create change for all students and families.
We have set aside up to 45 total slots for parent/guardians to attend. We ask that you take a look at the schedule below to see which cohort fits your schedule. We will offer dinner and childcare. Please note that completing this form will not secure you a spot because space is limited. However, we will do our best and use this information to gauge interest for future cohorts.
If you are interested in participating, please complete this form by Tuesday, September 4, at 8am. Those who have registered will be contacted by Friday, September 7, with their assigned cohort.
If you have any questions, feel free to email any questions or concerns to equity@district65.net.
Sincerely,
The District 65 SEED Facilitators
