Village of Glencoe issued the following announcement on July 15.

The Village of Glencoe, New Trier Township and Winnetka Presbyterian Church are working to raise awareness of reading preparedness in our schools by collecting children's books between Thursday, July 19 and Friday, August 3. The recipient of the collection is Bernie's Book Bank, a Lake Bluff-based nonprofit organization that sources, processes and distributes new and gently-used children's books to at-risk infants, toddlers and school-age children throughout Chicagoland.
Collection bins will be available at Village Hall for donations during business hours, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Any residents, community members or local businesses interested in helping with the collection are encouraged to contact New Trier Township Communications Director, Jack Macholl, at jmacholl@newtriertownship.com.
