Hoffman Estates Park District recently issued the following announcement.

The community is invited to Fabbrini Park on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 3-8:30 p.m. for the annual Party in the Park. The event will feature many popular attractions including live music, games, food, and activities.

Throughout the afternoon, party-goers will enjoy the return of multi-cultural performing groups, presented in part by the Village of Hoffman Estates Cultural Awareness Commission. From 7-8:30 p.m. the evening will draw to a close with live music performed by Dick Diamond and the Dusters.

“Party in the Park is like a giant block party, but we do all the work,” said HE Parks Executive Director Craig Talsma. “It’s a great, affordable way for our families to spend a summer evening outdoors, just having fun.”

Admission is free. Wristbands will be available for $10 that will include children’s games, activities, petting zoo, pony rides, inflatables and a 24-foot climbing wall.

Many activities will be free, such as a community walk around the pond which will kick off the event at 2 p.m. “Throw-back” old-fashioned games are free as well, such as tug-of-war, hula hoop contest, Double Dutch jump rope contest, potato sack races, and 3-legged races.

Also returning this year is a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.

Throughout the day, quench your appetite and thirst at the food tent. Garibaldi’s Italian Eatery, Radhika’s Kitchen and Chuy’s Tex Mex will be selling a variety of multi-cultural snacks and dinner food.

“We’ve definitely packed a lot of excitement into a day,” said Director of Recreation and Facilities Mike Kies. “But I’m sure no one will mind going home exhausted.”
