Village of Barrington issued the following announcement on June 14.
On June 11, a bat was found in the vicinity of the 700 block of Concord Lane in Barrington and was determined to be rabid by the Illinois State Public Health Laboratory. If you were exposed or bitten by a bat, contact your doctor.
All residents should keep their dogs, cats, and ferrets on a leash when out of their homes. If your animal does not have a current rabies vaccination, have the pet immediately innoculated.
You are advised NOT to handle any bats, skunks, or other wild animals. If bats or skunks are found down or dead on your property or roadway, please call the Cook County Department of Animal Control.
