EVANSTON TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 202: ETHS students present “The Bluest Eye” May 24-25

Movie theater

Evanston Township High School District 202 issued the following announcement on May 11.

Evanston Township High School presents “The Bluest Eye” at 7:30pm on May 24 and 25 in the school’s Upstairs Theatre.

Reserved-seat tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for students/seniors. Visit www.ethstheatre.com to purchase.

Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison's The Bluest Eye is about the tragic life of a young black girl in 1940s Ohio.

Eleven-year-old Pecola Breedlove wants nothing more than to be loved by her family in schoolmates. Instead, she faces constant ridicule and abuse. She blames her dark skin and prays for blue eyes, sure that love will follow.

With rich language and bold vision, this powerful adaptation of an American classic explores the crippling toll that a legacy of racism has taken on a community, a family, and an innocent girl. Appropriate for ages 13 and older.

Located at 1600 Dodge Ave., the ETHS Upstairs Theatre is accessible by elevator.

Parking is recommended in the school’s rear lot; enter off of Church or Lake Streets.

For more information, call the ETHS Fine Arts Office at 847-424-7130.
