Rep. David Harris (R-Arlington Heights) stayed true to his word and had another positive thing to say about the Prairie State – something he promised he would do until the session ends.
During Wednesday’s House floor debate, Harris focused on Illinois police officers.
“It’s no secret being a police officer can be a dangerous job,” Harris said. In recent years, it has even gotten tougher, he said.
“There was a study done by a consumer finance site of all the 50 states and the District of Columbia and what it showed was that Illinois ... is one of the best states to be a police officer,” Harris said.
That is because the Land of Lincoln ranked higher in safety than all the surrounding states including Indiana, Michigan, Iowa and Wisconsin, Missouri and Kentucky, Harris said.
“They do a dangerous job, but it is a great state to do that job,” Harris said.
