Glenview natives and current Dartmouth University football players Charlie Pontarelli and Brennan Cascarano have been named recipients of an academic award from the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF).
Pontarelli and Cascarano have been selected as members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society, making them two of 11 Dartmouth players so honored.
Pontarelli attended Loyola Academy, and Cascarano graduated from Glenbrook South.
A senior, Pontarelli registered 45 tackles and five sacks over his Big Green career and was named first-team all-state by the Chicago Tribune in his final season at Loyola.
Cascarano, also a senior, recorded 30 tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery over his career at Dartmouth. As a junior, he was named an Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week.
To be eligible for an NFF Award, players must maintain a 3.2 cumulative GPA and must have been starters or regular contributors during their final season of eligibility, during which they met all requirements for progressing toward graduation.
