Jillian Rose Bernas is moving on to a rematch with Rep. Michelle Mussman (D-Schaumburg) in the November general election after garnering 59 percent of the vote in her GOP primary faceoff with Charlotte Kegarise.
Bernas, who is running in the 56th House District, which includes Schaumburg, Hanover Park, Roselle and Elk Grove Village, garnered 44.7 percent of the vote in her 2016 race against Mussman.
Speaking of Mussman, Bernas, an international relations manager, questions why the incumbent has not called for the resignation of House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) as she did in a February North Cook News report.
“Will Mussman pledge not to vote for him?” Bernas asked, referring to Madigan and the controversy related to the speaker for ignoring complaints of sexual harassment a former campaign employee lodged against one of Madigan's top political aides. “Will she demand more from her largest benefactor? Or, with her silence, will she condone this behavior?”
When she is not calling out Mussman for ignoring Madigan’s wrongs, Bernas continues to challenge the incumbent on taxes, jobs and terms limits.
“There are entrenched career politicians in our state that are purely motivated by self-interest instead of setting good policy to serve the families,” Bernas has told the North Cook News.
