In the three-way Republican primary race for the Illinois 10th Congressional District, current results show Jeremy Wynes with a mere 259 vote loss to Douglas Bennett.

With mail-in ballots and early voting numbers still being counted, Bennett holds a 35.64 percent lead over his political opponents Wynes and Sapan Shah, as the three political newcomers vie for incumbent Rep. Brad Schneider's (D-Deerfield) seat.

Despite having a substantial campaign war chest from record fundraising, and several key endorsements, including from the Chicago Tribune, the Daily Herald and The Sun-Times, Wynes is currently holding at second place.

Wynes had focused much of his campaign on bringing a new generation to Washington and helping to heal the country's divide.

"America is as divided as it’s been in a generation," Wynes told the North Cook News in a December 2017 interview. "Washington is broken, and it’s time for the next generation of leaders to step up."

Wynes, an attorney, has served on the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and with the Republican Jewish Coalition.

"I’m running for Congress because the challenges facing our country today and tomorrow are way too important to be held captive to the extreme elements of one party or another," Wynes stated in the North Cook News article.
