Voters should be aware that part of Katy Dolan Baumer’s motivation for running for the seat held by Rep. Fred Crespo (D-Hoffman Estates) in the 44th District is all about keeping an earlier promise to them.

Dolan Baumer, a Streamwood Republican running unopposed in the GOP primary, vowed that she would do just that after being defeated by Crespo in the 2016 election.

This time, Dolan Baumer, Hanover Township's clerk, insists she senses a different climate.

"I have been serving my community since before we moved to Streamwood,” Dolan Baumer said on her website. “Whether it is service with the Lions Club, on the village blood drive commission or to the township, I have been there for my neighbors."

In all, Dolan Baumer counts 46 years of community service, 27 of them in elected office, during which time she has prided herself on making life better for those she is entrusted with serving.

In those years, she has seen many businesses come and go. As president and later director of the Streamwood Chamber of Commerce, she toiled long and hard to turn the community into one with a more business-friendly environment.

Dolan Baumer is particularly concerned about property values, assessments and taxes, diminishment of rights, and the ever-increasing size of government.

“Change is inevitable and affecting our lives at a fast pace,” she added. “We need someone in our state House who sees the shifts in our society, and is not afraid to make difficult decisions.”
