The price of local government: Village of Wilmette

The village of Wilmette budget was $80.24 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $8,235.33 per household.

That's an increase of 11.5 percent from 2014, when the village spent $71.94 million, or $7,383.93 per household.

Wilmette has 9,743 households and a population of 27,087.

Since 2001, the village of Wilmette budget has grown by 9.3 percent, from $73.4 million. The village population has fallen two percent over the same period, from 27,651.

Salaries accounted for 24.9 percent of village spending in 2015. Wilmette property taxpayers paid $19.95 million for 218 full-time employees and 62 part-time employees.
