Kicking off a Lake Cook Corridor analysis, village of Buffalo Grove leaders recently revealed plans to undertake a comprehensive market study to assess how best to achieve local growth, working with experts to improve infrastructure.
By evaluating an assortment of options designed to enhance the village’s identity, strength and fiscal health, village stakeholders hope to determine the best possible plan for the Lake Cook Corridor, spanning over 472 acres and supporting over 1 million square feet of commercial, residential and recreational space.
Buffalo Grove awarded a consulting contract to a team of experts consisting of design, marketing, transportation and engineering professionals in late 2016. Additionally, the village government promotes public participation and feedback during the project, which is expected to culminate by the end of 2017.
“We encourage residents, business owners, property owners and all other stakeholders to be a part of this planning process,” Village President Beverly Sussman said.
The project represents a major step forward in Buffalo Grove’s 2016 Economic Development Strategic Plan. The corridor is a major conduit for the village, connecting it to regional infrastructure.
“We are excited to be selected to undertake this important effort,” said project leader Domenic Salpietra of global design firm Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum, which was commissioned to lead the study and plan.
