The Schaumburg Boomers are up against the Windy City Thunderbolts and Joliet Slammers in the 2016 ChiTown Throwdown Food Drive, according to BoomersBaseball.com.

Boomers fans can drop off donations of canned and boxed food items at Boomers Stadium as the team competes with Windy City to find out which team's fan base can donate the most food items.

The food drive, which will benefit the Northern Illinois Food Bank, will run until Nov. 18.

Those who donate food items will get one undated ticket voucher for a 2017 regular-season Boomers game, with a limit of 10 vouchers per person. Examples of items to donate include canned vegetables, chicken, tuna, fruit and all-natural peanut butter; oatmeal; whole-grain pasta; low-sodium soups; and brown rice. No items with expiration dates will be accepted.

Donated items can be dropped off at the stadium VIP entrance from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, go to BoomersBaseball.com.
