Dan Gott, the Republican candidate for state representative in District 55, said he will be among several Illinois candidates participating in the upcoming Walsh Freedom Day of Action political rally.

Hundreds are expected at the Oct. 15 rally in Mundelein organized by former Illinois congressman and conservative talk radio personality Joe Walsh. The event is held prior to the November election and is designed to help candidates endorsed by Walsh. This includes volunteers manning phone banks and dropping literature bags in selected precincts.

“This important event is all about patriot citizens getting together to help endorsed candidates promote their campaign against career politicians and cronyism,” Gott recently told the North Cook News.

Gott, a Des Plaines resident, retired engineer and a political outsider who was recently endorsed by the Illinois Family-Pac, has touted a campaign message of bringing change and has been critical of what he calls “one-party rule” in Illinois politics.

“Everyone knows Illinois is in financial straits and that we need change in Illinois,” Gott said. “We need legislators in Springfield that will listen to what the voters want and support the needed reforms.”

Gott has called for changes that include state tax reform, greater government accountability and public pension reforms, which he says should be sustainable while honoring existing pension obligations. Gott has also called for greater transparency and accountability in Springfield.

“When united as one, we will overcome. It’s time to end one-party rule in Springfield,” Gott said.
