The Schaumburg Boomers baseball team has brought back “Boomers Bookworms,” a reading-incentive program, for the 2016-17 school year, the team said on its website.

The program, which is open to students in grades pre-K through eighth, is used by teachers to set reading goals for their students, with prizes including Boomer-related items.

“Boomers Bookworms” can be customized to each participating school, allowing the schools to integrate it with their already-established reading programs. “Boomers Bookworms” encourages students to do reading outside of the classroom, according to the website.

Participating students will receive prizes, including two tickets to a Boomers game in 2017 and a “Boomers Bookworms” backpack. The game tickets would be good for any game in May or June 2017.

The program began in 2012.

For more information, go to BoomersBaseball.com. Educators interested in the program can call the team's front office at 847-461-3695 or enroll at BoomersBaseball.com/fanzone/bookworms.
