The village board approved annexation of two-acre parcel on Jan. 5.
The Village of Mount Prospect board of trustees approved the annexation of a two-acre parcel at its meeting on Jan. 5 -- land that is part of the Illinois Tollway property.
The annexed parcel was adjacent to Lake Briarwood and Lynn Court condominiums. The village had to annex the property and record an intergovernmental agreement with the Illinois State Tollway Highway Authority in order to surround the Lynn Court condominiums. Once the condominiums were completely surrounded by the village, the unincorporated portions of the complex could be annexed.
The village published the public hearing notice in the Daily Herald on Dec. 14. Community Development Director William Cooney explained the annexation and details of the process to the board and attendees. The public was asked to comment; there were no comments.
After closing the public hearing, the board heard the motion and second for approval of the annexation agreement with the Illinois State Tollway Highway Authority, followed by the first reading of the ordinance authorizing the annexation. After waiving the rule for two readings of an ordinance, the board unanimously approved Ordinance No. 6232 to annex the property.
