Northbrook has released the draft for its 2016-17 fiscal budget.

The Village of Northbrook has prepared the draft of the upcoming year's fiscal budget.

The proposed budget is available for review on the village website. The budget covers from May 1 of this year through April 30, 2017.

The annual budget was prepared by the Finance Department, led by CFO and Deputy Village Manager Jeffrey Rowitz and Accounting Manager Iwona Petryszak. The projected budget includes a beginning fund balance of $137,450,307, total estimated revenues of $91,195,935 and total estimated expenditures of $83,127,717, which leave a projected surplus of $9,218,218.

Beginning with the General Corporate Fund on page 38 of the draft budget, each fund is divided by division or department, with an introductory section detailing what the division entails, the accomplishments for the fiscal year 2015-16 and goals for the upcoming year. The budget detail follows. Each account provides the numbers for fiscal year 2014 through the projected fiscal year 2017 -- and, in some cases, fiscal year 2018, for comparison.

The budget will be considered for approval at the village board of trustees meeting in April. The board meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The new budget must be passed before May 1.
