The Elgin Heritage Commission Design Review Subcommittee will discuss plans to install a stoop roof over the front door of a home at 170 River Bluff Road at its next meeting at 6 p.m. today in Elgin City Council Chambers, 150 Dexter Court.
The subcommittee will review the application, plans and supporting documents of the proposed stoop roof. It will also view photos of the home. The subcommittee will consider the design, materials and appropriateness of a stoop roof to the neighborhood and nearby homes.
The subcommittee also will hear a presentation from Kevin Brown of Casco Industries, an Illinois-based manufacturer of traditionally styled windows, doors and cabinets. It has two manufacturing facilities in South Elgin and Genoa.
The next meeting after tonight's is scheduled for 6 p.m. March 22 in City Council Chambers.
