The Park Ridge Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on a request to alter the zoning designation for the property at 622 N. Prospect Ave. at the commission's next meeting at 7 p.m. today in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 505 Butler Place.
The applicant has requested a map amendment to rezone the property from R-1 Single Family Residential to OS Open Space. In addition, a site plan for a paddle tennis court addition has been submitted for review.
Paddle tennis courts are significantly smaller than a standard tennis court, at 50 feet long by 20 feet wide. A tennis court is 78 feet by 27 feet, plus clear space, which makes a full-size tennis court 120 feet long and 60 feet wide. A paddle tennis court is built with the same materials as a tennis court, generally grass, clay or other hard materials, such as asphalt or concrete. The game is played with a tennis ball and a paddle. The surrounding wall or fence is part of the game, as the ball may be played off of the wall.
The commission also will hear the City Council liaison report and any other items brought up by commissioners. Comments from the public on non-agenda items will also be heard.
