New home and retail developments are moving forward in the Village of Northbrook.

Northbrook Village President Sandra Frum has announced that the village is experiencing an all-time high in development projects.

The village's strong financial picture and improving economy are among the factors drawing developers to Northbrook.

Residential projects include the Jacobs Townhomes at 1179-1275 Shermer Road in downtown Northbrook. The Plan Commission held five public hearings before approving the project. The village board will review the project for approval soon.

Also in the works are Anets Woods at 1230 Voltz Road and Timbers Edge at 3800 Dundee Road. Anets Woods is still in the concept-planning stage, while construction on the Timbers Edge site has begun with the retention pond, utilities and grading the site. Groundbreaking at Provenance by Red Seal is planned for spring. The 137-unit development at Techny Road and Pensive Lane includes townhomes, duplexes, single family homes and an 18-hole golf course.

The combined residential and retail units at the Village Green Business Center will add 10 apartments on the second and third floors and a retail space on the first floor. Located at 1312-1318 Shermer Road, the project provides residential units to downtown. Life Time Fitness is in the planning stages for a mixed use development at 1000 Skokie Blvd., with plans for a Life Time Fitness, day care facility and rental apartment building.

Business opportunities abound with the anticipated retail spaces in the mixed used developments. In addition, a Dunkin' Donuts is under construction at 2775 Dundee Road. The store is scheduled for completion in early summer.
