Tomorrow's Sustainability Commission meeting will review the ECC Sustainability Green Faire event plan.

Sponsorship of the Elgin Community College (ECC) Sustainability Green Faire will be considered at the City of Elgin Sustainability Commission meeting tomorrow, Feb. 9.

The meeting will begin at 6:15 p.m. at the Robert Gilliam Municipal Complex, City Hall, in the second floor's south conference room.

The commission will also review the Green Faire event plan and budget. This will be the second ECC sustainability faire in Elgin. Last year's event included panels on sustainability and eco-friendly events such as a bazaar.

The commission will review the Conservation Foundation rain barrel program and Earth Day at Hawthorne Hill Nature Center. It will also review the event plan and consider a sponsorship proposal for the Earth Day event.

The Sustainability Honor Roll nominations will be reviewed before the commission votes on the April honoree, followed by discussion of the 2016 National Mayor's Challenge for Conservation.

ComEd has two grant opportunities available at this time: the Green Region and the Powering Safe Communities grants. The commission will consider applying for one or both of the grants.

The conversation will continue regarding changes to the city's solar ordinance. The Partners for Places grant proposal is also back on the agenda for continued discussion. Once the commission has hammered out the details regarding the ordinance and grant proposal, it will present its recommendations to the city council.
